The department of Urdu was established in 2002. Since then, it is inclined to provide Urdu students, many chances of jobs in Mass Media and Journalism,so it offers job oriented programmes, it also offers excellent research opportunites in modern literary trends and criticism. It imparts education at M.A.,M.Phill& Ph.D. Level.

About Programme

The department offers M.A. in Urdu with special paper of Mass Media and Computer Graphics along with disseration, based on any literary field including seminar and assignments are also included in the course.
M.Phill Urdu The department admits those students for M.Phill degree in Urdu who have secured 55% in M.A. Urdu. This programme includes four theory papers in two semesteres and a dissertation on any literary topic personalities belonging to Merrut and surroundings.

LIBRARY

The department has a library named Hafeez Merathi Memorial Library, where a number of text books, rare books,national books, national & international magazines and news papers, according ti the requirement of the students are available.

COMPUTER LAB

There is a departmental computer lab equipped with 6 Computers, 4 Printers,3 Scanner,urdu software'inpage', C.D. Writers & Internet facility is also available in computer lab.

AUDIO-VISUAL LAB

This lab is equipped with LCD Projector, Colour Television, DVD Player, Audio Player & Recorder etc.

Departmental Magazine

In every semester a departmental magazine named "Hamari Awaz",based on many articles of the students & other eminent Urdu writers of modern era with new trends of literature and arts is published regularly.
